Grandmother's House
"After experiencing pretty much the full gamut of assisted living, rehab, and long-term care facilities,my sisters and I now know what kind of place we would like to live at once we grow old: A group home, a real home where residents (and their families) essentially form a cooperative to share caregiving expenses.
Visiting physicians, Home Health and Hospice agencies are also welcome, making it a place with all the care, yet at the same time it is a homey, comfortable, safe place."
"This model works beautifully.
Our Mother’s peaceful, happy
face tells the whole story."

GRANDMOTHER'S HOUSE is an upscale Personal Care Home in the Lake Arlington Area. Our home is known for high levels of care, which is partially due to our low census level. We only accept THREE frail guests in our home. Our ambiance is reminiscence to that of a Bed and Breakfast- with a country flair! Our home is personal, comfortable and friendly. Check out our Happy Place today!
The owners, a retired nurse and wife team, have lived on the premises for over twenty years. They and their staff provide care around-the-clock. They find it a priviledge to open hearth and home to those needing caring assistance.
Our Residents come with various needs, such as redirection due to short-term memory, incontinence, help with ambulation, or may need help with eating (or special food preparation such as a soft or blended diet.) One's care is tailored to the need, such as receiving help with transfering, toileting, bathing, medication management, or other daily tasks. At times the frail senior may require oversight from hospice or a home health agency for other needs such as peg-tube feedings, colostomy care, diabetic management, etc. Physician House Calls and Therapy can also be received in the home. These visits are usually covered by Medicare.
As a nursing home alternative, we encourage 'aging-in-place.' Most of our elders remain in our home for the long-term, making this their last home. Contracts are month-to-month. (Unless one is on Respite, and visiting for a short time. In this case the Agreement is not open-ended.)
Known around town as a caring place, families at Grandmother's House rest well at night! They personally know each caregiver in our home and have become part of our extended family. Consider Grandmother's House if wanting gentle care for your aging parent. We help families 'Honor their Fathers and their Mothers."
Our Open Door Policy Means Families Can
Visit Loved-ones Any Time of Day or Night!
We've seen the joy on a family's face when they discover this option to long-term care needs. A caring model offering housing and care- homestyle! After placeing his Father in the home, a lawyer blurted out, "This is like the best kept secret! I didn't even know that homes like this existed!"
This vehicle of care is all about sharing a home and one's heart. Living off a long hall is not the ideal. Learn how to by-pass institutionalization and find a caring situation for your parent (or ask and the Director of this home would be glad to help you start a small three-bed home to place your own parent.) We hope that you and your family find great joy in discovering our home. Countless others have.
